Whey protein is great for mixing with drinks. It’s commonly used by athletes to make post-workout protein shakes. Bariatric surgery patients use it to supplement their restricted diets. Adding whey protein to smoothies is a great way to make them more balanced and nutritious.

Those are all great reasons for consuming protein powder, but whey protein isn’t just for drinking.

There are tons of different foods you can mix whey with to up protein content, especially if you use an unflavored whey protein isolate. Isolate is a more desirable product than whey protein concentrate because it contains little to no lactose, so it can be consumed by a wider range of people, and its purity allows for easier mixing into food. Unless you want to add extra flavoring to a dish, using unflavored whey protein isolate is ideal because it’s virtually tasteless.

Here is a list of just a few common foods you can mix whey protein with:

-Yogurt

-Oatmeal

-Pancakes

-Cookies

-Spaghetti sauce

-Macaroni and cheese

-Mashed potatoes

-Banana bread

-Granola

-Quiche

-Guacamole
